Google Pixel 6 – first 24 hours review

As you can read from the title, this is my first 24 hour review with the Google Pixel 6. My last phone was an iPhone 13 Pro, so the change has been quite drastic, but not dissatisfying.

The Google Pixel 6 has been a smooth transition, and easy sort and nothing complicated when setting up the phone. I want to make sure I get the best out of the phone being a new and beginner android user.

The system

The system at first did take some time to get used to. With the double tap enabled (double tap the back of your phone and it will bring up an animation of your choice) and sliding left, right, up and down on the screen it’s becoming more and more easier to get used to the phone and the design.

One of my favourite things so far about the system overall is its smoothness. The phone is unbelievably smooth. From switching apps, scrolling on TikTok or typing on your keyboard, this phone really hits the spot. Typing is so smooth you can type as fast as you want without worrying about it not reading the tap correctly because it’s too quick. One of the biggest problems with iOS/iPhone I found the keyboard and touchpad in general was often an issue if you’re a fast typer – with it not reading the tap correctly or mistaking it for the swiping emotion you do which can be very annoying if its an important message that needs to be sent quick.

Another thing I’ve come to enjoy with the phone is the display itself, so simple yet elegant. Nothing that fills the whole screen and ruins your lock screen photo. The dimmed display screen when the phone is locked is something so simple and effective, which Apple doesn’t offer. The simple design shows you what the time is, what notifications there are in small icons and what the weather is. Leaving a small transparent finger scanner in case you wish to unlock your phone.

Overall thoughts after 24 hours

Now, overall I’m pretty happy with my purchase after the last 24 hours of having the Google Pixel 6. The phone is quick, slick and an all round pleaser with barely any detail in customisation or settings being missed. For the first time, I feel comfortable knowing that I can adjust the phone to my routines and needs, really making it my phone. In the long term, I see the Google Pixel 6 being a phone I can rely on for a long time and still being happy with the device.
